The 8-hour Lead Safe Renovator/Remodeler course is a class that teaches lead safety to workers and property owners performing home renovations and remodeling work.  Upon completion of the class, you must pass a written examination and apply for a license from the Rhode Island Department of Health.  This class is required by law for those working on pre-1978 residences in the state of Rhode Island.

Testing Policy:
If you do not pass the written examination you must retake and pass the test within 45 days of the class in order to receive your certificate of completion.

Paid Class Registration Information
With a few exceptions, the Childhood Lead Action Project requires a fee of $100 for the Lead-Safe Renovator/Remodeler class.  Pre-registration for these classes is required.  If a scheduled class listed on this website is not listed as "full" or "cancelled" you can assume that registration is still open and you may call to register.  If the class has filled we will make every effort to enroll you in another class.  Please be aware that only those registered for a class will be admitted. No walk-ins are allowed, and you must arrive on time to be eligible to receive a completion certificate. We limit class size so participants have the opportunity to ask questions and have a quality experience.

Registration and Payment Details
Payment is due in full upon registration of the class. IF WE CANCEL:  You can request a full refund in writing up to 30 days after the date of the class, or take another 8-hour class (within 90 days of the date of the cancelled class) at no additional cost.  To request a refund email liz at leadsafekids.org or write to Liz Colón, Childhood Lead Action Project, 1192 Westminster Street, Providence, RI 02909.  IF YOU CANCEL:  If you cannot make your class and you give us more than 24 hours notice you can register for another 8-hour class (within 90 days of the date of the cancelled class) at no additional cost.  If you cannot make your class and you give us less than 24 hours notice or fail to show for the class, you forfeit your class fee.  No refunds will be issued in the event of your cancellation.

Please note:  A $20 fee will be added to all returned checks.

Replacement Certificates
As of February 1, 2008 there is a $15 replacement fee for Certificates of Completion for both the 3 and 8 hour classes. We accept credit cards and checks made payable to the Childhood Lead Action Project.

Cancellation Policy
We reserve the right to cancel classes due to insufficient registration or inclement weather.  To advise us of your cancellation, call Liz at 401.785.1310 x 208 or email liz at leadsafekids.org.

Inclement Weather
In the event of bad weather, watch, listen or log on for cancellation notices at the location of class to be held.
For example: If the class is to be held at Gibbs College and they are closing do to bad weather, we will not hold our class.

If no cancellation is mentioned you can assume the class is still running.
